Patina De Bravio Oro
2011 Buckskin Pearl (Oriundo VG “Oreo” x Perla de Bravio)
This 2011 mare represents the ultimate success in blending the foundation Bravio bloodlines with the imported Smokey Black stallion, Oriundo VG ("Oreo").
We thought this would be an outstanding blend of pearl from Bravio & cream from Oreo....and we were right! She got color, confirmation and the temperament we find instrumental to our success. She is such a character. No lack of personality in this gal. And to the best of our knowledge, she is the very first United States bred and born PRE Buckskin Pearl filly!!
Her dam is the bay Bravio daughter "Perla de Bravio" (see below). See additional photos under Photo Gallery. Patina has given us several outstanding foals including our double pearl 2018 filly, Navi de la Paz (by Pearl of Peace), and Mazikeen de la Paz, another Pearl of Peace filly that arrived in 2020. In 2021 we welcomed a Patina filly, the first Apollo Del Solis daughter, Tazz del Solis…an absolutely amazing double pearl gal. And every year since this stunning mare has delivered us incredible offspring in Pearl and Cream/Pearl.
Pele De Perla
Rioso x Luna de Bravio (2009 Grey Pearl Bravio Granddaughter)
Pele de Perla is a line-bred Bravio Granddaughter with tons of character and personality! From the very beginning, she stole our hearts. In 2013 she gave us the bay pearl Oreo daughter, Adagia de Oro. Pele is mother to some of our very best horses, she also produced our 2016 double pearl stallion, Apollo del Solis, and the 2017 Buckskin Pearl filly, Isabeau "Izzie". Pele has truly earned the title of Sommer Ranch Foundation mare.
Ebonista
2011 Oreo x Ametza (Smokey Black/Grey Mare)
A classic beauty, this 2011 PRE filly is from Oreo's first foal crop and out of Ametza (an Axis daughter). Axis is a black, Legion of Merit stallion imported from Spain with two lines back to Agente and Maluso! "Ebby" as we lovingly call her, carries a chestnut gene she inherited from her mother and the cream gene she was gifted from her sire.
So she is a smokey black with one copy of the grey gene and she is capable of producing Palominos and Cremellos. Her first foal, (born March of 2015) was a Smokey Black colt and is an excellent example of old-world Andalusian style and carriage.
He's round, stout, and has a natural ability for airs above the ground; all while maintaining an even temperament. Her second foal was a stunning Chestnut Pearl colt. Her 2018 filly is our Smokey Cream (double cream on a black base) filly, Lunazul, who also inherited a chestnut gene from either her mother or sire, Rey PM. And Ebby's 2019 foal is a big, sweet buckskin filly.
Every year she offers us the cream of the crop. Ebby has consistently outproduced herself and in 2021 she gave us the incredibly athletic Palomino filly, Tempi del Solis, by Feliz du Carel. And lately her Apollo offspring have been turning heads.
In 2025 she will be crossed with Don Diego del Solis and will be learning new sports like team penning and sorting. Such fun it will be!
Chantilly
2015 Buckskin Pearl (AG Palomo x Perla de Bravio)
With an eye on the future, this Buckskin Pearl (carries chestnut) holds the true heart of the ranch and our family.
Her whimsy and attitude just make us love her all the more. She's also got that 'look at me presence that makes a great show horse; the genes to produce foundation quality foals and the moves to go almost any direction in Equine sports. Chantilly has the BEST personality of any horse we’ve ever met.
We swear this horse has a great sense of humor. She is truly a member of our family; one of a kind! She gave us a handsome Perlino colt in 2020 by the stunning Palomino stallion, Morante RM. And Chantilly gave us a rare double pearl colt (Ambrose del Solis) by Apollo in the spring of 2021; followed by several others. She is currently in training and showing under saddle in Western Dressage so we have elected to keep her open for the 2025 - 2026 season.
Navi De La Paz
2018 Black Base Double Pearl (Pearl of Peace x Patina de Bravio Oro)
Stop the press! This 2018 filly is big news. First Pearl of Peace (see Breeding Stallion page) foal born in the United States and she is a winner in every respect.
She is a BIG gal with show-stopping movement. And the sweetest of personalities. Her metallic golden glow is just the icing on the cake. Navi has given us several outstanding Double Pearl foals by Apollo including a 2025 colt born in April. She will be re-bred to Apollo for 2026.... for another GUARENTEED double pearl foal. Mazikeen del Paz
2020 Buckskin Pearl (Pearl of Peace 17h Double Pearl Stallion x Patina de Bravio Oro)
Navi’s younger sister, Mazikeen del Paz, stands about 16.2h and has the kind of movement that is well suited for upper level dressage.
This big striking gal is a real head turner. Producing some of our most impressive foals in both cream/pearl and double pearl. Her Pearl of Peace bloodlines are highly desirable here in the United States and very rare.
Lilliana TNF
2010 Chestnut Rabicano - Apollo III (By Bravio XVI) x Navidad D (with several crosses to Leviton)
We have loved this mare from afar since she was a yearling. We were fortunate enough to welcome her to the Sommer Ranch family in November of 2021…and it was worth the wait. This mare is almost one of a kind in the PRE Andalusian breed…a Chestnut Rabicano. Rabicano is a pseudo form of Roan.
She has white ticking throughout her body with the classic abundance in her tail. She also has a flaxen Mane. She is 16.1 hands tall with movement that will take your breath away. Already a proven broodmare, we can’t wait for the arrival of her next Sommer Ranch foal.
Isabeau Del Solis
2017 Buckskin Pearl (Carmelo PM II x Pele de Perla)
Once again our beautiful grey pearl mare, Pele, outdid herself with this 2017 Buckskin Pearl (one cream gene/one pearl gene on bay base color - no grey gene) mare sired by Carmelo PM II. Isabeau (aka “Izzy”) is ½ sister to our double pearl stallion, Apollo del Solis.
This 16h intelligent mare has a big free-floating trot. Her first foal is our 2021 stud colt, Don Diego del Solis, a Perlino sired by the 17h Palomino stallion, Furtivo . He carries chestnut and no black genes. With equally impressive foals that followed.
Tazz del Solis
2021 Double Pearl PRE Mare – Apollo Del Solis x Patina de Bravio Oro
Tazz is a Patina de Bravio Oro daughter, sired by our Apollo del Solis. We have something very different in mind for her. She is currently in training with Roy Rich Group in Temecula, CA.
She is just starting a career under saddle with a focus on working cow horse. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this stunning gal.
Perla De Bravio
2001 Bay Pearl (Bravio XVI x Amante V)
This big 16h+ bay pearl PRE mare has been very generous with her unique color gene; producing Patina de Bravio Oro (see above), Rocoso Dorado and Chantilly (see above)…all Buckskin Pearls…just to name a few. This Bravio daughter is throwing the very best attributes that Bravio offered our long-term breeding program, including lofty movement and a commanding presence.
