Guindaleza R is the jewel of our ‘colored’ breeding program. This 2003 Palomino Pearl is unique unto herself! She belongs to a very small, exclusive group of Iberian horses that test as a single dilute (Palomino or Buckskin) but appear to be a double dilute. Our Guindaleza had the honor of being the VERY FIRST Andalusian horse tested by UC Davis for the Pearl gene. It was the results of her test that proved the existence of the gene in our Andalusian breed! She is Palomino (single dilute on chestnut base)...with the iridescent sheen often seen in Pearl horses. We are enjoying Guindaleza (also known around Sommer Ranch as “Blondie”) for her wonderful personality and her brilliant movement! She offers the very best of the pure Spanish/Portuguese horse (PSP). She is sired by the gorgeous 16.1h Cremello stallion, Saphiro, and out of the chestnut mare, Chica, a PRE Andalusian. For more information on the pearl gene, and a photo of Chica (Guindaleza’s dam) the following websites are referenced: www.chboa.com or www.horsecolor.com/dilutions/pearl/index.htm or www.ichregistry.com/identification.htm
Guindaleza delivered an amazing colt in March of 2008 and again in 2009. DNA testing proved that they were actual double dilutes (perlinos). Congratulations to the Bohn family in Washington on their purchase of the 2008 colt, Alijo, and to Sue Kearns on her in-utero purchase of the 2009 colt, Fusao.
Guindaleza is currently in foal to Balitor for a 2010 May baby which is already sold to Jessica Shields and her mother, Sandy Shields. Congratulations ladies...we feel confident this will also make an exceptional cross with truly spectacular movement!!
