Nestled in the San Gabriel mountains, just a short drive from Los Angeles, Sommer Ranch boasts a unique sales and breeding center for purebred Andalusians of pure Spanish, pure Portuguese and pure Spanish/Portuguese decent.  Services offered to the public include the sale of our own premiere Andalusian stock in an array of rare and highly sought after  colors including true black, palomino, buckskin, smokey black, cremello and PEARL.  We also provide a nationwide sales referral service for both pure and partbred Andalusians available for purchase in the U.S. and Canada. 

Sommer Ranch was the home to the legendary bay stallion, BRAVIO.  We salute his accomplishments, as well as the accomplishments of his amazing offspring.  His passing in August 2003 has left us with a large hole in our hearts that no one can ever fill.  But we look forward to continuing his legacy with his sons, daughters and granddaughters.   BRAVIO earned incredible honors during his career as our showing, breeding and exhibition stallion.  But most of all, we will always remember him for the loving family member that he was to each of us. 

We offer breedings to his mirror image son, BALITOR, the 16.3h metallic red/bay stallion who made history in his own right when he became the very first Andalusian stallion in the world to be a confirmed carrier of the newly isolated PEARL gene.  A gene we know he inherited from his famous sire.  UC Davis is expected to publish their findings on this new gene, but in the meantime, you can find out more about this gene by visiting Balitor’s page (see link to OUR STALLIONS) on this website or by visiting:

And in a new light, our most recent acquisition to Sommer Ranch is ORIUNDO VG, who we believe to be the only APPROVED PRE SMOKEY BLACK stallion in the United States.   We have nicknamed this incredible mover, OREO, since he is dark chocolate on the outside with a ‘creamy center’ that will produce PRE eligible Buckskin offspring for Sommer Ranch and our clients over the upcoming years.  

Sommer Ranch is also pleased to announce that they will continue to offer breedings to the imported Lusitano stallion, Xerox HM.   He is a double dilute on a black base that is guaranteed to throw at least one cream gene to each offspring (i.e. Buckskin, Palomino, Smokey Black).   He is also capable of throwing a grey gene.  He is pre-potent for his wonderful dressage movement and kind, easy going nature.  We regularly receive outstanding reports from owners of Xerox colts and fillies.
